Pure Devotion to God

Pure devotion to God arises spontaneously from the heart. However, we must begin from where we are.
One who identifies himself as this body-I am black, I am white, I am American, I am Russian, etc. cannot approach God. God himself is not possessing a material form born in America or Russia, that is materially black or white, etc. Therefore to approach God we must rise to meet Him where He is. He is not existing on the material platform which is merely a lower form of consciousness. I "think" I am white,etc. but God has no such illusions. His consciousness is always pure. We can never know God fully since only He is capable of knowing Himself perfectly but we can meet Him and speak with Him...first we must come to the spiritual platform by realizing "I am not this body" To understand this and to move to the next stage, devotion we require a spiritual master-one who knows God and can direct us in the proper method of love.-Mayeshadasa
